A Woman of Virtue

VIRTUE: 1. moral excellence; goodness; righteousness. 2. conformity of one’s life and conduct to moral and ethical principles; uprightness; rectitude. 3. chastity

I was saddened and grieved by a call that I recently received from someone questioning another individual’s character. It reminded me that as believers it’s vital that we keep ourselves in check at all times. People are watching, hearing and most importantly the Lord is in every conversation and action that we take. We are called to be above reproach in every area of our lives. As His daughters we are called to a higher standard. It can be easy at times to become complacent and let our guard down. We are warned though to, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour”. 1 Peter 5:8.

There can be a tendency to think, “Well everyone is doing this or that and they are okay”. Reminder to self: they are not the standard, God is! We can lose sight of what really matters if we are not abiding in Him constantly. We cannot allow our secular media, coworkers our culture to define what our standard should be. The Word must always be the standard by which we live by. There is so much inconsistency in our culture, trends are forever changing. But the word of God remains the same; yesterday, today and tomorrow. My prayer for me and you sisters is that we would be so focused on Him that the ways of the world would not entice us or be appealing to our senses. May we hold fast and guard what He has entrusted to us. Because He is coming soon and His reward is with Him. Revelation 22:12
