Choosing the Best thing…

Choices, choices, choices…between good, better and best! According to a post on the web, on the human brain and how many decisions we make each day, a person makes an average of 35,000 decisions per day. We make decisions on a daily basis, about what time we are going to get up; are we going to hit the snooze button? Am I going to read the Word? What am I going to wear? What am I going eat? What are my appointments for the day? Am I going to work-out? When do I feed the dogs? Do I need to put gas in my car? What deadlines for work, school assignments, or paying bills to I have today? Do I need to take vitamins, medication or allergy pills? These are just a few of the many decisions we make just in the first few hours of our day, the list goes on and on and on…

The Lord has really been encouraging me about making decisions that have eternal value. Even as Jesus said to Martha, “That Mary had chosen the better part!” Luke 10: 38-42. There is always something competing for our attention ladies. We need to be deliberate and intentional about what, and when we take on another commitment. Making sure that what I’m choosing is what the Lord has for me in this season. It is okay to say not now or no to people or opportunities when it interferes with what God wants to do in the moment. However; it’s important to be mindful and sensitive to what the Holy Spirit may want to do and be quick to respond in obedience.

“When the will of God crosses the will of woman, somebody has to die.” Elizabeth Elliott..

My prayer is that we would truly desire and obey our Lord’s will over ours in all the decisions that we make from day to day. When we make godly and temperate choices we leave a legacy for our future generations.…

We have examples of men and women in the bible that were given choices, and how some made godly choices and the fruit of their obedience and we also see those that didn’t and the consequences of their sin. God tells us to choose life. Deuteronomy 30:19 this day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.
